  • conservation: the protection and management of Earth's natural resources

  • pollutant: as substance that makes land, water, or air dirty and not safe

  • windbreak: something like a fence or a group of trees that protects an area from the wind

  • fossil fuel: fuel formed from the remains of once living organisms

  • smog: a cloud of dirty air caused by pollution, usually found in cities
